The Basics

What it is

Rosehip oil is cold-pressed from the small seeds inside rose hips — the fruit left behind after wild roses bloom. It's a 'dry' oil, dominated by polyunsaturated linoleic and linolenic acids, which is why it sinks in fast and feels weightless rather than greasy.

Those same fatty acids, along with natural carotenoids, are why rosehip is so closely linked with radiance, even tone and the look of supple, healthy skin. It's a go-to face oil for exactly that reason.

The Plant & The Seed

Wild rose

The Wild Rose

Rosehip oil comes from wild rose species such as Rosa canina, whose flowers fade to leave bright red-orange hips packed with seed.

Rosehip seeds

The Seeds

The tiny seeds inside each hip are cold-pressed to yield rosehip's fine, fast-absorbing golden-red oil.
