The Basics

What it is

Eucalyptus oil is steam-distilled from the leaves of eucalyptus trees, most often Eucalyptus globulus. Its sharp, fresh, camphor-like aroma comes overwhelmingly from a single compound, 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol).

A bright, fast-evaporating top note, it brings a clearing, invigorating quality to a blend. It's potent and best used sparingly and well-diluted, and is generally avoided around very young children.

In Our Formulations

How we use it

Eucalyptus is a bright, clearing top note — we use it in tiny, well-diluted amounts to lend a fresh, cooling lift to a blend.

Because it's potent, a very little goes a long way, and we keep it out of blends intended for very young children.
